AI: Are We Still in Control?
What if AI, instead of helping us, was quietly pulling us away from ourselves?
Over the past few days, Iāve been slowly coming down from a state of overload.
I dove into the latest versions of AI tools. Not necessarily to adopt them, but because I like to understand ā how they work, what they change⦠and above all, why weāre supposed to care.
Recently, O3 Pro was released. More powerful, faster, more of everything.
But a quiet question surfaced in me: āAre we really heading in the right direction?ā
Not the thrill of excitement. But that feeling of disconnection. The sense of running after something Iām not even sure I asked for.
New versions come out before weāve even had time to get used to the last one. Tech giants push us to stay at the cutting edge ā or risk āfalling behind.ā But do we truly need that much power? So many features? And most importantly: in service of what?
An Acceleration That Outpaces Us
As we aim higher, faster, stronger⦠we sometimes forget the essential: Whatās it for? For whom? And why?
I feel a kind of saturation.
Around me, I see a vague unease. Many people feel overwhelmed. Tired. Stuck between fascination and exhaustion. The gap is widening between those who keep up with the tech wave⦠and those whoāve quietly begun to step back.
As if AI isnāt enhancing us anymore ā itās consuming us. We thought it would save us time, but weāre doing more than ever, without really slowing down.
Before, ChatGPT had only one version. Now, there are many. And tomorrow? Where does this power escalation lead?
What if, instead of chasing the most powerful version, we learned to master the one thatās actually enough? It reminds me of the endless productivity hacks. We pile on apps and systems⦠when often, a pen and notebook work better. Maybe itās the same with AI.
What If the Future Wasn't Spectacular, but Simple?
Maybe the future isnāt about raw performance, but about purposeful use. Not about the wow effect, but about gentle integration. An AI that understands our inner drives. Not a force that crushes them. An extension of ourselves. Not a constant distraction.
And what if, by expanding our tools, we end up losing what they were supposed to amplify: our attention, our discernment, our capacity to connect?
Maybe the true turning point will come from that. From Siri, from Gemini, or from an AI that doesnāt shine ā but supports. Embedded in our devices, our gestures, our everyday flows.
Everyone laughs at Apple Intelligence. But maybe theyāre slowly laying the groundwork for a healthier balance. Yes, their āprivacy-firstā approach may seem like a weakness now.
But in the long run⦠it could become their greatest strength.
Slow Down, Choose, Stay Human
Iām not here to offer a definitive answer. Just a deep urge: to slow down, take back control, and choose consciously. To use less ā but use it well. To stay aware of what technology awakens in us⦠and what it quietly shuts down.
Because no matter how powerful AI becomes, it will never replace our ability to discern what uplifts us⦠from what slowly dissolves us.
And above all, to stay human through it all.
And you ā do you feel like you're moving forward⦠or losing yourself in the race? Iād be genuinely curious to hear what this stirs up for you, if you feel like sharing.
